Meet the Staff

CHURCH STAFF

Jo Kelley, Administrative Assistant

Jo was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Houston in 1988, and now calls Texas home. Jo comes to Grace with great credentials from many years of experience in administration and communication. The last 11 of those years Jo has been working within the Lutheran church. Her background in church work ranges from communications and administration to youth and family ministry. Jo and her husband Mike now live in the Cypress-Fairfield area but will be relocating to the Conroe area. They have five adult children between them (2 girls and 3 boys), and one grandson. Most all of their children live out-of-state with the exception of Jo’s daughter who is a school teacher in Conroe.

Gerard Mansveld, Facilities Coordinator

Born in the Netherlands in the 40’s, Gerry has worked in facilities and grounds maintenance for over 17 years, and has over 35 years of experience with Chevron. He and his wife Teresa live in Conroe and have six grown children (4 girls and 2 boys) and a dog named “Fritz”.

SCHOOL STAFF

Joleen Howard-Browne, School Director

Joleen and her family moved to Texas in 2003 after a two year traveling excursion that included homeschooling four children while journeying across the country. In Joleen’s words “We didn’t choose Texas, Texas chose us. We’ve never regretted the move.”

That fall, Joleen began as assistant director of Grace and became its Director just one year later. Joleen brought a wealth of knowledge, a 15 year background as a Licensed Family Counselor in California, and the personal experience of raising four children to the position. Under her leadership, the school has grown to its full capacity of 130 children and currently staffs 27 employees. Joleen, her husband, two teenage children and all five dogs call the woods of Montgomery home.

Vicky Rooney, Assistant Director

Vicky joined Grace Lutheran School when it opened over six years ago. She started as an assistant teacher for the 2-year old room and has worked her way through various positions here at the school. This summer, after completing her official Director’s Certification, she was promoted to Assistant Director and is thriving in her new role. Vicky and her husband Todd have two daughters ages 9 and 10, and live here in Conroe.

Marie Marcotte, Finance Office

United States Army Veteran Marie Marcotte is no stranger to the daycare/preschool setting. Marie began her childcare career at Sunshine Daycare in Winfield, Kansas in 1993. She was promoted up from the 2 year old room through various teaching positions, and in 1997, advanced to the center’s Director. After relocating to Montgomery with her family in 2002, she was hired by Grace as the school’s Assistant Director. Today Marie serves as the school’s bookkeeper.
